There are certain traits, skills and behaviors most often associated with good leaders. Most of these can be worked on or developed.
When leading others it is important to know what level their skills and knowledge are and assist them appropriately.
Every leader/follower exchange is a relationship. We need to be aware of how we are being perceived by our followers and adjust our interactions to be of most benefit due to our personalities. We have the best opportunity to see success in the job and the individuals when we are true to who we are and we care about who they are.

This would pull together a foundation of traits, skills and behaviors approaches. It would then be guided on the job with the situational approach and a little path/goal theory as time went along. I believe there is always a Psychodynamic interaction happening with every follower from the time you first meet. I have observed most situations work best if you subscribe to being an authentic leader and many relationships benefit from also being a servant leader to those you lead. This conglomerate of leadership ideals I will just call Jamie’s Aggregate Theory.
