The leader is the one who has the vision of the end goal and is able to convey that vision to the team motivating them to achieve it.
Leadership evolves as the people who are led evolve. In the 21st century it does not mean ruling, coercing, sitting in a posh office high above the employees and only listening to the opinions of an elite inner circle. It means mingling among those that you lead, listening and viewing things from their perspective. They will tell you what they need and what inspires them to achieve. Leadership means guiding, tutoring, encouraging, and mentoring. Followers are more knowledgeable, so leaders are not the only ones in the know. Only those who are transparent maintain credibility. Many of the tasks of leadership are now shared responsibilities. Leaders emerge from the masses. They are the ones who have the skills which are needed to complete the project or oversee the situation at hand. They are usually more knowledgeable about what needs to be done. They have confidence in their abilities which relate to the task. They are enthusiastic and charismatic enough to get others to want to work with them. They are determined to be successful. The leader is the one who has the vision of the end goal and is able to convey that vision to the team motivating them to achieve it.
